CODE OF ETHICS
Research with respect.
Our commitments to participants, research partners, and the El Paso community.
The person comes first.
Voluntary, informed decisions
We explain study information, encourage questions, and respect a person’s decision to decline or leave a study. Contacting EPCT does not enroll you or guarantee eligibility.
Participant safety and welfare
Study activities take place under investigator oversight. The team follows the protocol, discusses relevant risks and possible benefits, and raises safety questions through the appropriate study process.
Respectful, fair communication
We aim to make information understandable and treat people with dignity. Eligibility and participation depend on each protocol’s requirements. English and Spanish support helps people ask questions.
Responsible research practice.
Our research commitments include accurate documentation, appropriate delegation and training, timely communication about issues, and respect for applicable study and regulatory requirements.
We aim to identify and address conflicts of interest, handle study information through appropriate processes, and support honest reporting within the responsibilities assigned to our site.
Quality improvement is ongoing. The team reviews questions and concerns and works with the investigator and relevant study partners to address them.
Privacy and questions.
We handle research information through the relevant study procedures and consent or authorization processes. Our website interest form is a separate, minimal contact request.
Do not send medical history or records through a basic website form. Ask the team how to share screening information appropriately.
